TRAMA / PLOT LINE

Una Slitta avvicina due bambini di paesi e cultura diversi e li porta, in pieno inverno nelle foreste delle montagne italiane, lontano dall’isolamento e dai pregiudizi dei genitori. Due bambini ,una Slitta e la scoperta di un’ amicizia.

A sled brings together two boys from different countries and cultures and carries them through the winter woods of the Italian mountains, far away from their parents' prejudices and isolation. Two children, one sled and a lasting friendship..

SINOSSI / SYNOPSIS

Alfred vive in una famiglia modesta in un villaggio isolato di montagna. I suoi genitori hanno forti pregiudizi sugli immigrati, sono infelici, annoiati e spesso si scontrano ignorandolo. Per sfuggire all’impossibilità di comunicare il bambino decide di trasgredire l’ordine del severo padre di restare a casa e fugge per raggiungere i suoi compagni di scuola; ma sul cammino attraverso il bosco si perde. Impaurito, trova una slitta di legno con il suo proprietario, un ragazzino strano, diverso, di un altro Paese, che qualche volta aveva visto al villaggio. Dopo un iniziale scontro violento in cui si confrontano solo attraverso i pregiudizi dei genitori o della società i due si scoprono, si trovano e si osservano con i loro sguardi. Grazie alla slitta i due percorrono insieme un cammino magico che darà ad Alfred per la prima volta la possibilità di un incontro reale con un’altra persona.

Alfred is a small boy who lives with his family in the woods near an isolated village in the mountains of Italy. His parents have strong prejudices against immigrants. Bored and unhappy, they often quarrel, and they pay little attention to their son and usually disregard his needs for attention and affection. One day, wishing to get away from this oppressive atmosphere, Alfred disobeys his father’s strict orders for him to stay at home and he leaves the house to go and see his classmates. On his journey through the woods he gets lost and he comes across a wooden sled and its owner, a young boy from another country who seems strange and different, and who Alfred has sometimes seen around the village. After an initial clash, in which they project the prejudices of their parents and society onto each other, they tell each other about their lives. They soon start to relate to each other and understand each other’s problems. Thanks to riding together on the sled they seem to enter into a magic world that gives Alfred his first experience of a genuine relationship with another person.

“LA SLITTA” è un film sociale con aspetti surreali. Racconta di una famiglia problematica in un villaggio tra le montagne Italiane, nella quale i genitori non sanno comunicare e relazionarsi con l’unico figlio,Alfred, che, di fronte alla loro indifferenza, si rifugia nell’isolamento. Nella storia, assieme alla narrazione realistica, che include il tema del razzismo e delle minoranze linguistiche con vari punti di vista, intendo aggiungere un aspetto fantastico attraverso una “Slitta”. La slitta, mezzo di trasporto che i bambini usano come un gioco, per il nostro protagonista assume valenze diverse diventando simbolo di speranza, di comunicazione e condivisione; l’alternativa, uno spiraglio di vita migliore per un bambino di nove anni o meglio per tutti i bambini in cerca di nuove possibilità di apertura e di vita.Nata all’estero e di nazionalità italiana e avendo vissuto personalmente i vari aspetti della parola “immigrato”, ho voluto porre la mia attenzione di recente sul razzismo che è ormai tornato in modo preponderante nel nostro paese e in tutta l’Europa.Leggendo il ricco e documentato “Rapporto sul razzismo in Italia” degli ultimi anni, pare che la situazione attuale non sia affatto da sottovalutare. E’ la retorica del “posto di lavoro rubato dallo straniero” a veicolare oggi la rabbia verso l'immigrato. Perciò, negli ultimi anni, i movimenti migratori dal Nord-Africa e dall'Europa dell'Est sono divenuti oggetto di una nuova e preoccupante forma di ostilità, a causa dell'ansia diffusa per la precarizzazione del lavoro e di una martellante campagna mediatica di allerta.La motivazione nel voler realizzare questo film, è quella di creare un cortometraggio d’autore, autentico accessibile a tutti .Pedagogico nel parlare di tematiche importanti e cosi attuali come il razzismo e l’incomunicabilità dei bambini all’interno delle famiglie,l’indottrinamento che i bambini subiscono con l’educazione che a volte comprende appunto delle deviazioni razziste che il bambino non ha la facoltà di discernere.. La solitudine,il confronto con l’altro, l’ascolto, il sogno di una vita diversa.È un film sociale che non vuole usare il clichè,i luoghi comuni ma bensi un’osservazione emotiva atraverso gli occhi di un bambino di una realtà che gli appartiene perchè è la sua e che nel bosco,solo e libero riesce a riconquistare.L’aspetto surreale personalizzato nella “Slitta” ,oltre al simbolo della discesa e via d’uscita,permette al film di staccare dal racconto reale e di aggiungere una dimensione intima che si avvicina al mondo dei bambini e al loro immaginario.La slitta e il suo proprietario,il ragazzino albanese (con tutti i suoi pregi e difetti come tutti) sono i nuovi amici di Alfred. Un film con pochi dialoghi dove i silenzi,gli sguardi,i suoni e l’immagine prendono posto come se fossero loro a guidare la storia.L’ironia nei dialoghi tra i due bambini permette distanza e leggerezza nel raccontare il confronto sulla diversità.Il cortometraggio La slitta è un film per tutti e benchè ambientato al nord Italia non vuole essere un opera unicamente nazionale, ma vuole essere visto come un film internazionale a carattere universale.

“THE SLED” is a film of social awareness, at times surreal. It’s the story of a problematic family living in the Italian mountains. The parents are incapable of communicating and relating to their only son Alfred, who, faced with their indifference, ends up isolating himself. Within the plot, as well as a realistic style of narration which includes the themes of racism and perspectives on various linguistic minorities, I intend to accommodate the fable-like element of a “Sled”. To our protagonist, the sled - a means of transport which children use for play - assumes a higher value and becomes a symbol of hope, communication, and sharing: an alternative, and the glimmer of a better life for a nine year-old boy, or rather, for all children in need of new chances. Having been born abroad and personally had a fair share of the many forms given to the word “immigrant”, I have chosen to direct my attention to the question of racism, which seems to have made a predominant come-back to our country and in the rest of Europe. According to the richly informative “Report on racism in Italy” relative to recent years, it appears that the current situation is not one to be taken lightly. The rhetoric of “foreigners stealing our jobs” is what fuels anger towards immigrants. Thus, in recent years, thanks to a spreading sense of foreboding caused by growing job insecurity combined with an incessant and alarmist media campaign, the migratory fluxes from North Africa and Eastern Europe have become targets of a new and disquieting form of hostility.My motivation for wanting to make this film is the desire to write and direct a short movie that is authentic, from the heart, and accessible to everyone; educational in the sense that it will deal with important issues such as racism and communication barriers between children and parents, as well as the indoctrination that children receive as part of their upbringing, which can indeed include racist inclinations that they are not yet able to discern. It will be about solitude, about dealing with and listening to other people, about dreams of a better life. This film is socially aware and does not intend to be commonplace or cliché - rather, an emotional standpoint seen through the eyes of a child whose reality becomes his very own in the woods, when he is alone and free.The surreal component in the form of the “Sled”, as well as being the symbol of a downhill journey and a way out, lifts the film from its realistic narrative plane and allows it to add the intimate dimension of a child’s world and imagination. The sled and its owner, an Albanian boy (with his good sides and bad, as with everyone) are Alfred’s new friends.A film with little dialogue, where the silences, the looks, the sounds and the images take the story by the hand. The irony in the two children’s exchanges allows distance and lightness in the telling of the differences between them.The short movie The Sled is a film for everyone and, whilst set in Italy, does not want to be solely national in nature - rather an international piece of universal character.
